Commander
of French regular forces, Montcalm continually clashed with his superior
officer, Vaudreuil.

Pierre de Rigaud de Vaudreuil 1698-1778
Last Governor General of New France. He was continually at odds
with Montcalm on the best way to conduct the war.

Francois-Gaston Lévis 1719-1787
Montcalm's second in command, Lévis was probably France's most able
general in New France and came close to saving the colony in 1760.

Served
as overall commander of the British Army in North America for the majority
of the war.

leading the British landing at Louisbourg, he became army commander of the now
famous expedition against Quebec City.
